Who for

You may join Solar Energy Recycling Netherlands Foundation (ZRN) if you are an affiliate of the OPEN Foundation, that is, if you are a producer of solar panels and have a Producer Responsibility.

When are you considered a producer?

Under the terms of the AEEA directive (the Netherlands’ national legislation of the WEEE directive), you are considered a producer if you put solar panels or inverters on the Dutch market. It does not matter if you are a producer, a project developer who imports solar panels, or a fitter or wholesale importer. It also does not matter if you import products from China, Germany or elsewhere. In all these cases, you are a producer in the eyes of the law.

When do you have a Producer Responsibility?

The AEEA directive deems that a company that first puts solar panels on the Dutch market holds a Producer Responsibility. See the infographic for more details.
